Our Pitch - Short Film

My friend Sonali and I will be doing this project together and we have come up with a few good pitch ideas. It took us a while to come up with good ones. We had to make sure the pitch fit into our circumstances well. The first thing we had to take into consideration is that we have two people. Since we have two people, we have to make sure that we split up the acting roles equally. We also have to make sure that we could film it since we aren't very experienced. If we pick a pitch that is too difficult then we wouldn't be able to film it. And finally we aren't together so we need to think about our time we have. The ones we came up with to fit our needs are the following. 

  1. After a major accident, a husband begins to abuse painkillers. He falls into a dark hole which he keeps looking to the painkillers for help. His addiction only worsens until he doesn't think hell ever be able to escape. He later meets a girl at a coffee shop that would change his life. She begins to show him the joys of life and that his life is worth a lot more than he originally expected.
  2. A husband is trying to find his missing wife after a car accident in he woods. The only thing that is found is her car with no one inside it. The husband goes on a search and rescue mission throughout the woods of Montana. He meets some of the hardest challenges he has ever faced, from sleeping in trees to keep safe from animals, to fighting a bear after finding clues of his missing wife. After following her trail for 3 months in the wilderness alone he is found by police hallucinating after drinking some contaminated water.  
  3. A couple perceived to be the "perfect couple," is not so perfect behind closed doors.  The man in the relationship is put through mental and physical state of abuse.  The women, that is a alcoholic, tends to go through many mood changes which is then released onto her boyfriend.  The boyfriend is still attached to the girlfriend making it hard for him to leave her.  Finally after a year of suffering, he decides to leave her unexpectedly.
We chose the third option because we think we could make this pitch the best with the skills in film making that we have. It is simple but still has a good plot to it and good characters. This will also be able to fit into our 5 minute time period well.

Film day #2 Part 1

 Today is our second day of filming for this project. We had planned to get some extra work done today. First things first I had to get ready for Sonalis house. All I had to do was get changed, grab cloths, and get over there. After gathering everything up I headed over to Sonalis to get to work. When I got to Sonalis we started to discuss what we had to do. We had a few different ideas what to start with. We decided to start with some of our long takes. These were takes that were hard to follow the script for. so for most of these we improvised what we were saying but still staying on the topic. A long take in my opinion is one that was more than 30 seconds. We had a good amount of these scenes. The reason for so many long takes is because of how long our film was. Final Task: More Info

  Schedule March 2nd - I will start finalizing all my plans and ideas for filming and let my film crew know I will start soon. March 4th - I will start filming the beginning scenes that I only need to set my phone up somewhere. For example scenes like the beginning scenes that the credits will flow over. March 7th - I will finish up the filming that I can do alone and start to focus on the bigger scenes and shots. My parents and siblings will be the film crew that will help me here and there.  March 12th-15th - During this time I plan on finishing up most of the filming that I need to do. There will be some scenes that I want to switch out and redo, so this will not be the last time filming.  March 16th - I will start to upload all my shots and clips to OpenShot. This is my editing soft where that I will be using.  March 18th - After uploading all of my shots, I will look at all of my shots to see if they are good or not. Title Research: The Life of Pie

  What titles are displayed in the opening sequences? The 20th century Fox is shown in the very beginning of the film. There is also the name that shows up after few scenes. The movie starts off at a zoo it looks like. There are a few credit scenes that show up with actors and important roles. What images are prioritized during the opening sequences? Images with animals are heavily prioritized in the beginning of the film. showing beautiful animals prancing and moving around everywhere. What connotations do these images carry? These images carry a free and fresh connotation. They have cute animals jumping around in front of the cammera. How does the film establish a feeling from the genre from the outset? The film showing a lot of wilderness may something that establishes the genre.
