Filming Blog- The Vast Backyard

Image
On Wednesday, the 27th I started filming for my Gatorade commercial. I planned on going out to a field or a bigger area. I had no ride to get there so I had to settle for my backyard. My backyard is pretty big so I got lucky with than. There was one downside though, there's just to much stuff in the way. About a year or two ago we got our backyard redon. It used to be pretty open with not much stuff that could pose to be a problem. Now though we have pavers in a big area that takes up a lot of space. Also we just got a new deck that is huge and takes up half of the yard. Long story short, filming a commercial that you need to be able to have room to run around in my backyard, wasn't the easiest thing in the world. I planned on doing multiple sports throughout my commercial. I realized I jut didn't have time or space for that. So I decided on football to be the sport I use. I had to get my mom and dad to help me out with the filming process. One to hold the camera, and one ...

Planning Storyboard for my Gatorade Commercial

Image
First Scene - The first scene will be the opening scene to my commercial. It will start off with a pan shot with me lined up in a wide receiver stance. It will then slowly pan up but not show my face yet. Only my cleats up to my torso. Ill be all sweaty just to add a little effect and also the background music will start. Second Scene - The second scene will start to go into action more. There will be a black scene for about a second as a transition from the last scene. Then it will show me sprint off and do what we call a post in football, that is just the route ill run to catch the football.  Third Scene - In the third scene ill finish my route and jump up to catch the football with gloves on. But the ball will either go a little to high or right over my hands. The camera show me grunt and look disappointed and tired. Fourth Scene - This scene will show me walking over to a table or bench. I will then pick up a refreshing Gatorade bottle with condensation all over it. Ill ...

Planning for my Gatorade Commercial

Props - This is a Gatorade commercial, so I will of course be using a Gatorade bottle and Gatorade drinks. Some other props I would use would be lots of sports equipment. For example, footballs, basketballs, baseballs, bats, football gloves, and their could be so much more. Costumes - Since I am doing this project alone, I will have to wear all costumes by myself. With this information there will not be as many costumes if there where more then just me acting. All costumes must be athletic so that also slims them down. I am aiming for athletic running cloths, baseball cloths, and maybe if we get lucky a whole football uniform. with the football uniform I will need cleats, a girdle, and shoulder pads. I will not have access to a helmet, so I will just have to angle the camera to not be able to see my head. Schedule - 10/22/20 Ill come up with ideas on how to format my Gatorade commercial. 10/23/20 Research on commercials, including length, elements, and how to film them. 10/24-25/...

Research Blog: Commercial Conventions

I am doing a Gatorade commercial, Gatorade is a sports drink meant to replenish energy and give you the drive you need. Gatorade is world renown and is used by huge companies and corporations. Including the NFL, the NBA, and just about every sport. If it has to do with physical exercise and getting tiered, Gatorade is going to bee used side by side with it. In these commercials they will usually have the actors play some sort of sport that is high intensity. These would be very similar to other sport commercials. For example, Nike would have a lot of the same features. Like the high intensity and use of sports. An element that is special to Gatorade is the ending. At the end of most of their commercials they smack the Gatorade bottle down with condensation formed all over it. When this happens all the water falls off in slow motions, which is used a lot in Gatorade commercials, and creates a refreshing and eye catching scene. Also another word to describe these commercials would b...
