Genre Research: Cast Away

 What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?

This movie is a dramatic survival, or a drama/survival. This was about a fed-ex delivery man that was flying with cargo. They ran into a storm which ended up to them crashing into an ocean. He managed to escape on a little raft with little to no supplies. He then goes through the biggest struggle in his life to overcome hardships. His ultimate goal was to return home and see his wife again. That ended up being the only thing pushing him forward to keep on trying. The elements in this movie are the best. I would like to think I can adopt a few of them into my film. Including the drive he has by loved ones, and his pure struggle. If I had more time in my film and more resources I would one hundred percent use more elements.


What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?
This is one of my favorite movies and by far my favorite survival movie. All, the plot, execution, and the actors were spot on. Tom Hanks has got to be one of my favorite actors and has been in multiple of my favorite movies. And he did not disappoint with this one at all. The element that I actually enjoyed the most were his use of tools and materials that were washed up on the beach from hiss plane. He ended up using ice skates as an axe, that's cool.


What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?
I liked all the elements to this movie. There were only small details that I didn't like that much. They were small enough that I don't really remember them. All the elements were important to the storyline and were all enjoyable.

Film day #2 Part 1

 Today is our second day of filming for this project. We had planned to get some extra work done today. First things first I had to get ready for Sonalis house. All I had to do was get changed, grab cloths, and get over there. After gathering everything up I headed over to Sonalis to get to work. When I got to Sonalis we started to discuss what we had to do. We had a few different ideas what to start with. We decided to start with some of our long takes. These were takes that were hard to follow the script for. so for most of these we improvised what we were saying but still staying on the topic. A long take in my opinion is one that was more than 30 seconds. We had a good amount of these scenes. The reason for so many long takes is because of how long our film was. Final Task: More Info

  Schedule March 2nd - I will start finalizing all my plans and ideas for filming and let my film crew know I will start soon. March 4th - I will start filming the beginning scenes that I only need to set my phone up somewhere. For example scenes like the beginning scenes that the credits will flow over. March 7th - I will finish up the filming that I can do alone and start to focus on the bigger scenes and shots. My parents and siblings will be the film crew that will help me here and there.  March 12th-15th - During this time I plan on finishing up most of the filming that I need to do. There will be some scenes that I want to switch out and redo, so this will not be the last time filming.  March 16th - I will start to upload all my shots and clips to OpenShot. This is my editing soft where that I will be using.  March 18th - After uploading all of my shots, I will look at all of my shots to see if they are good or not.   What titles are displayed in the opening sequences? The 20th century Fox is shown in the very beginning of the film. There is also the name that shows up after few scenes. The movie starts off at a zoo it looks like. There are a few credit scenes that show up with actors and important roles. What images are prioritized during the opening sequences? Images with animals are heavily prioritized in the beginning of the film. showing beautiful animals prancing and moving around everywhere. What connotations do these images carry? These images carry a free and fresh connotation. They have cute animals jumping around in front of the cammera. How does the film establish a feeling from the genre from the outset? The film showing a lot of wilderness may something that establishes the genre.
