AICE Media Studies

 Today is one of the last days to work on our project and finish up anything we needed. There are only a few small things that I can think of that need to be done. I'm sure more will come up when reviewing the final project. The website needs a little more tweaking but that shouldn't be hard at all. Some of the pictures on it we might change out or try and take better ones. The postcard is all finished up and we are happy with it. There was no more scenes that needed to be re-filmed. After we edited everything into iMovie I wanted to talk with some of my classmates about it. Most of them talked about minor fixes. For example the audio was most of the complaints. So we ended up making some scenes quieter and some louder. The ending scene was hard to edit since it was just an audio. It was also really quiet so I had to increase it to 400% volume for you to be able to hear it. After some other small edits we thought it was pretty good. The music choice was rly hard.   Since Sonali and I filmed most of our scenes the other day, we started to edit more.  I added all the raw footage we had so far and cut and edited from there.  Once I cut down on clips I was at 4:40.  This started to worry me because we still had the last scene to film which is about 30 seconds.  We also have the beach scene to film so we are definitely be over the time limit.  Adding transitions also adds time so we are going to have to really keep an eye on time.  Once we get all the footage, Sonali and I will have to figure out what clips we will have to shorten or just cut completely.  Today since I had most of the the footage, I started adding the title sequence.  The name of our studio is "S&O STUDIOS."  The name of our production company is, "KOENIG PRODUCTIONS."  The actors in our play are just "Oscar Koenig" and "Sonali Castanon."  Our film title is, "Till Death Do Us Part."  The music credentials are still ...

  Since the school week has started now, Sonali and I probably won't be getting together to film until the weekend.  Due to this, I am going to focus on editing the footage we have so far.  I will also go over our website to make sure everything looks good.  I gathered all the clips that we were using and put it into iMovie.  When I added all the clips I was at 3:20.  I started to get scared but then remembered that certain clips were longer than they had to be.  Once I started editing and cutting down the clips, we were around like 2:30.  We are doing pretty good on time so far since we have filmed half.  I included transitions after each clip to make it look better.  Today I was able to go over to Sonalis after school for a while. I couldnt stay over forever so we decided to look over and see what we could do. We looks over our shots up to this point to see what could be changed. After looking through it we decided that today would be a redo day. A day put to retaking shots that we weren't happy with. Looking through the film we actually noticed that there were a lot of scenes that we wanted to redo. These were all random scenes so it was harder than you think. We had to make sure we were in the same outfits as before. We had to make sure it was around the same time of day. We also had to go to different settings for the film. We first filmed the scenes that took place at her house. There were a few scenes that the dialogue wasn't to our liking. Next, we went to the park to refilm a few scenes.  Today was another uneventful day with nothing getting done. I had work again today so I couldnt get anything done. After school I already had my day planned out. When I got home I had about an hour before work. In the time it would take to go over to Sonalis it wouldn't even be worth it. So in that hour I had to do something. The first thing I though of was to go and work out. It would be perfect with the amount of time given. It would be a short workout but if I use my time well and be more intense that it would be good. So I worked out as quick as I could before I had to start getting ready. After I finished with all that I took a shower, got ready, and went to work. On days that I cant do anything I try and brainstorm ideas. Things that we can add or take out of the film. I have a good amount of free time at work so I use that time to brainstorm.   Today Sonali and I finally got together to film the rest of our project.  We didn't get to finish all of the filming because I had some family plans.  The only scene we have left to film is the last scene.  In this scene, Sonali pulls out a knife which causes me to push her. When I push her, she is supposed to hit the counter and die. Obviously she can't actually hit the counter so we are going to need the help from editing and non-diegetic sounds. This will be for a later day to come since we didn't get to film that today.  Today's filming included the two long takes in our film.  Each one of these long takes were around 30 to 40 seconds long.  We had to film both of this long takes about three times because we kept messing up. When filming the long take where I walk in on Sonali laying in bed with a bottle of wine, we ended up going off script.  We were trying so hard to stay on script that it kept messing us up.   We were able to film the phone scene yesterday.  This scene is going to be edited to be a split screen so the conversation has to flow into each other.  To start, we had to create a work-like environment for me to be at.  To do this we emptied a table and put it in a corner in Sonalis kitchen. We then put a computer, tape, and a paper tray on the table in order to make it look like I was in the office. Sonali then sat on the couch in her living room. I wanted to actually have the conversation in order for us to respond to each other at the right times.  The distance between Sonali and I was pretty far so there wouldn't have been a problem with hearing our voice on the other side. Since we only had three phones with us that day, we had to figure out how to film both Sonali and I at the same time.  I remembered that I had my old broken phone in my room and went to go look for it.  After looking for like 5 minutes I found it in one of my drawers.  ...

 Today is our second day of filming for this project. We had planned to get some extra work done today. First things first I had to get ready for Sonalis house. All I had to do was get changed, grab cloths, and get over there. After gathering everything up I headed over to Sonalis to get to work. When I got to Sonalis we started to discuss what we had to do. We had a few different ideas what to start with. We decided to start with some of our long takes. These were takes that were hard to follow the script for. so for most of these we improvised what we were saying but still staying on the topic. A long take in my opinion is one that was more than 30 seconds. We had a good amount of these scenes. The reason for so many long takes is because of how long our film was. If we had only small scenes it would make it a lot harder to meet our time requirement. These long shots were  actually pretty fun in my opinion.  Today I started to work on the website. Sonali had just finished up the YouTube channel and the face book. So I was assigned with doing the Twitter and the Instagram too. It was pretty annoying having to figure out how to make another account on Instagram. I had to look through the settings for a while tying to find how to make the second account. After a while I finally found it, and was able to make the second account for our film. After the Instagram was finished up and everything all I had to do was the Twitter. I've never used Twitter before so this was all new to me. So, the first time I tried to set up the account I messed it up and put some wrong information in. The second time after finally getting it set up I saw that my name was the account name. I had no clue how to fix this , and tried to search it up how to do it.  With the common reoccurrence of work, I was again halted from working on our film. We knew that this would be happening a lot. So we started trying to brainstorm ways to help with this. We came up with a few different solutions to this. One, planning out our weeks according to when I work. Meaning that at the start of each week we look at the days I'm working and plan around those. The only flaw to this is that some weeks I'm working every day. Second, Take a couple days out of the week and put them specifically to working on our film. This would mean that I could possibly talk to my boss about this project and take off a certain day or two a week. That day I focus on our project, this plan would definitely be the most productive. But, then comes in the part where I actually have to request this time off of work. Since Sonali doesn't work I am the only one with the problem of time. Since usually I have a few days off of work each week, we decided to go with our first plan....

 Sonali and I took most of the day to film and work on our project. We got a lot done in a single day. After filming at the park with my car and everything, we went back to Sonalis house and filmed even more. Our film director said we should try and get as much done as we could. So we were able to get a few other scenes done. After a while of a little more filming I had to go back to my house. I had work that day so I wouldn't be able to do much else. I work long hours so finding the time to film is usually pretty hard to schedule. For the rest of the day we were editing all the clips. We filmed a lot that day so we had a lot of raw footage. There was a lot to edit out. Out of all of our clips we had to edit out about one per scene. The transitions were hard to pick out. Nothing seemed to flow well with the movie.  For me and Sonali's first time filming we decided to go over to her house and use that as our set. We decided to go with her house for a number of reasons. There is barely anyone at her house to interrupt when filming. She has no animals that could cause problems when filming. She is also the midpoint (house in the middle) of our film crew. Having no people or animals is such a big upgrade from my house where I have a big family and to many animals to count. This means we wont need to restart any scenes because of interruptions. So before going to her house to film I had some preparations to complete. I needed a couple other pairs of cloths to bring to her house to film. These multiple pairs of cloths meant we could finish multiple scenes in one day. Of course throughout the film I don't want to be wearing the same cloths.
